Most people think that the only requirement to drive a commercial motor vehicle is having a valid CDL. It is not! Whether you are the owner, or a driver that has been hired by the company, prior to operating any commercial motor vehicle, you must complete a pre-employment drug screen as well as other pre-employment requirements. If these requirements are not met, your company could incur very costly fines. Once the pre-employment requirements have been satisfied, the person can then start driving and remaining qualifications can be completed within the next 30 days.
Your Driver Qualification (DQ) files are entered into our computer database and processed according to part 49CFR Section 391. DOT Safety Group will work with you to ensure your drivers meet their DQ requirements. This service includes, but is not limited to:
Making sure the driver has met Pre employment drug testing requirements
Completing all required background checks
Verifying that all paperwork is completed properly
Review driving record and completion of Certificate of Violations at time of hire
Monitoring medical certifications and CDL’s to ensure that they are valid
Maintenance of driver file to ensure on-going compliance
Our custom computer database tracks your drivers month after month. We will inform you of any upcoming requirements and assist you in keeping your drivers in compliance.
When audited by DOT, the first thing generally the auditor will ask for is your “Driver Qualification Files”. This is the first impression the auditor will get of your Company and the efforts you are putting forth towards compliance. Make a good impression by having your files reviewed and maintained by DOT Safety Group.
An audit is performed on each existing driver qualification file. An audit report on each driver is sent to you with instructions on how to fill out each form that needs to be corrected or completed. We take all forms and neatly organize them. Each file is setup the same way making it neat and organized. We will supply all necessary Driver Qualification forms needed. Upon completion we will provide them to you on a CD-ROM so originals can be produced for each driver, at the time of an audit by DOT. This will keep everything neat and in order for your auditor.
Driver work references and Drug and Alcohol checks are time sensitive, since the regulations give you a specific time frame to make “a reasonable attempt to secure”. We can also provide this service to insure the checks are properly documented and performed on time.
Our DQ file maintenance program keeps track of all expiration dates with reminders and forms sent to you when items are coming up to expire, for example annual reviews, drivers license and medical certifications.
DOT Compliance is not a one time project, it is a process, and we, as professionals, dedicate our time to insure the auditor will get a good first impression of your company when he reviews the first Driver Qualification file.
